Dar es Salaam | 2026 Regional Round
Dar es Salaam – Baybridge School has secured one of its strongest competitive performances to date, with all five teams qualifying for the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round at this year’s Dar es Salaam regional competition.
Fifteen Baybridge students competed against 82 teams from 14 schools, including some of the largest and most established institutions in Tanzania. Every Baybridge team advanced.
Leading the round was Laamia Noorali, awarded the prestigious Jac Khor Award, the highest individual honour of the tournament. She was named 2nd Best Champion Scholar in the Junior Division and claimed overall subject titles in History, Literature & Media, and Science & Technology, outscoring competitors across both Junior and Senior divisions.
Strong individual results followed. Maia Chandarana placed 8th overall as Champion Scholar and 4th in the Individual Challenge, while Arhaan Ladak secured 29th overall and a top-10 Individual Challenge finish.
Team performances were equally commanding. Team 120 (Laamia, Arhaan, Pinto) won 1st place in the Junior Team Bowl, qualifying 5th overall. Team 118 (Maia, Rebecca, Marcus) placed in the top five for both Team Challenge and Team Bowl, qualifying 8th overall.
Across Writing, Debate, Scholar’s Challenge and Bowl, every Baybridge student recorded placements – a reflection of the school’s emphasis on academic depth and collaborative culture.
Notably, Baybridge entered five teams, while other schools fielded more than double – in some cases eight times – that number. Despite this, Baybridge secured more individual subject titles and special awards than any competing institution.
All five teams now advance to the Global Round, where they will represent Baybridge on the international stage.
